Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party enter places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can expect discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
