The Iconic Puzzle Game Wouldn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type May Address This Issue

Whenever a prominent prize-giving event draws close, there’s always an outcry for introducing fresh award types to honor underappreciated efforts and delight the spirits of followers with niche passions.

My colleague has already made supporting a scary games classification. That would be fantastic. So would strategy board titles, representing someone's personal cause. Yet I need to apologize in advance if I try to elbow in front because like all dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification supporting my request is the most urgent above others. Here's the proposal: We need an award type for logic-based games.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Classifying creative works is not a science; opinions vary greatly, and it will always spark debates concluding with vague boundaries. It's understandable that cinema institutions avoid this approach. But it is a necessary evil within the realm of video games, which are so diverse they hardly constitute a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of interactive entertainment excellence to be recognized, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Existing Game Classification System

The major gaming awards currently feature genre categories for Action, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Between them, these six categories actually cover a lot of ground, allowing placement accommodating various experiences.

Different situation exists for logic-based experiences. No appropriate category exists to put them. Examine these examples from recent excellent titles, each quite distinct: structural challenges from a specific release, intense tile-matching of another game, thought-provoking social scenarios from additional release. What category would fit them between these six categories? Nowhere, that’s where.

Recognition Challenges

There are dozens outstanding logic titles launched regularly lacking appropriate categories in entertainment awards, unless they happen to qualify classification types such as Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive small studio competitions.

  • A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated completely that year
  • A different innovative game was excluded that year
  • A beloved organization game received no acknowledgment recently
  • Just some brain-teasers barely qualified for independent or mobile categories

Significance of Puzzle Games

Commonly they're compact experiences, but the art behind logic titles holds tremendous importance. Famous handheld logic titles rank among most engaged experiences in the world and have been for over a decade.

The iconic tile-matching title challenges well-known building titles claiming status as best-selling game of all time; it additionally competes for top gaming experience. Logic titles represent cornerstones to the art of video games, and engaging with diverse game types.

The Solution and Justification

Logic titles wouldn't face such difficulty. It would be easy to populate multiple candidates with fascinating, diverse, deserving games every year with ease — perhaps, with difficulty, since numerous excellent so many good games out.

And to reiterate, these include experiences without proper classification during prominent ceremonies. Brain-teaser creators operate at the challenging frontier of video game design, creating some of the purest expressions within interactive entertainment. Comparable to film action specialists, they warrant appreciation. Let’s not keep them waiting decades.
